Our original Dovetail Saw handled in Apple. Apple was “the choice” for saw handles in the 19th and early 20th Century. To my knowledge, this is the first modern saw made with this time tested wood. The reasons for apple were obvious when I started to work this handle. It’s hard, planes and sands beautifully and takes crisp detail. The downside it’s nearly impossible to find in any sort of quantity. It is frankly awesome. The blade is .020″ thick with a uniform, even set measuring .026″ sufficient for easy cutting in dry seasoned hardwoods.
